Anker 332 vs UGREEN Revodok 105: a hub for a pack-away desk
A small USB-C hub can let you unplug your rental desk in one step. The hard part is choosing ports that do the jobs you expect. These two five-port hubs make different tradeoffs, and neither is a full replacement for every docking station.
We reviewed manufacturer documentation and Canadian product listings. We have not hands-on tested these products for this guide. Retailer links are ordinary links; we earn no commission from them.

The renter’s lens
Portability & ecosystem fit
- Pack, place & remove
- Pack the hub with the charger and display cable your desk needs. Its short lead needs slack; do not leave the hub suspended from the laptop socket.
- Ecosystem fit
- This is a computer peripheral hub, not a smart-home bridge. Match video, data and charging roles; neither exact model supplies USB-C monitor video output.
- Offline & shared use
- Check the complete supported local desk connection. Host video capability and power negotiation remain necessary even when no online service is involved.
- Complete ownership cost
- Include a suitable charger and cables. Published 100 W input is not the same as power passed to the laptop, and USB port speeds differ.
- At the next address
- Eject storage before disconnecting and label cables by function. Recheck the next monitor and laptop rather than assuming the same connector means compatibility.
Documentation-based fit assessment, not a hands-on test or compatibility certification.
Draw the desk before ordering
List every connection: laptop, one monitor, keyboard, mouse, storage and the laptop charger. Next to each cable, write video, data or power. This small exercise exposes the common mistake of counting identical-looking sockets as interchangeable. A port marked for power input is not another place to attach a screen or SSD.
Then check the laptop manual for USB-C display output and USB Power Delivery charging. Confirm any work-device restrictions with IT. The hub cannot add native video output to a USB-C socket that does not provide it, or make a laptop accept a charging method it does not support.
Count functions rather than sockets
| Connection | Anker 332 A8355 | UGREEN Revodok 105 |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI output | Up to 4K at 30 Hz | Up to 4K at 30 Hz |
| USB-C peripheral data | One 5 Gbps data port; no video output | No separate USB-C peripheral data port |
| USB-A peripherals | Two 5 Gbps ports | One 5 Gbps port plus two 480 Mbps ports |
| Power input | 100 W PD input; up to 85 W pass-through | 100 W PD input; published up to 95 W pass-through |
| Ethernet / SD reader | Neither included | Neither included |
| Typical fit | USB-C storage plus USB-A accessories | Several USB-A accessories with one faster storage connection |

The portable-monitor trap
Anker explicitly says this model’s USB-C ports do not output video. Plugging a USB-C portable screen into its data socket will not turn that socket into DisplayPort. UGREEN’s only USB-C accessory-facing connection in this layout is for PD input. Plan the screen through HDMI, or directly through an appropriate laptop port.
If your monitor has mini HDMI, you need the correct video cable plus its required power arrangement. If it only accepts USB-C video, choose a supported direct connection or a different verified dock. Our portable-monitor comparison explains why the exact screen model matters.
A 100 W input is not 100 W at the laptop
Both hubs reserve power for their own operation; the published maximum passed to the computer differs. The actual negotiated amount also depends on your charger, cable and laptop. Add a suitable charger if you do not already own one; Anker’s listed hub package does not include it.
Compare with the power your laptop normally requires during real work. If it relies on a higher-power proprietary adapter, the tidy single-cable idea may not meet your needs. Retaining the original charger and using a hub only for peripherals can be a practical arrangement; do not choose solely by the largest number on the packaging.
Data speed and display smoothness
Put a storage drive on an appropriate fast data connection rather than one intended for a keyboard or mouse. Multiple devices still share the upstream connection. Two ports labelled 5 Gbps do not mean two independent guaranteed transfers at that rate. For important copying, avoid changing the charging connection mid-transfer and eject storage normally.
Both product pages advertise 4K at 30 Hz. If you want a smoother high-resolution desktop or a particular ultrawide resolution, verify that exact mode before buying. Do not infer 4K at 60 Hz or high-refresh gaming from the word 4K. We have not tested either hub’s heat, stability or display behaviour.
Choose the port mix you will use
A8355, 5-in-1
Anker 332 USB-C hub
Consider it if: one HDMI monitor and its USB-C data plus fast USB-A connections fit your desk
Skip it if: you need USB-C video, Ethernet or more power than its supported pass-through arrangement
Hub only; suitable USB-C Power Delivery charger and HDMI cable may be separate.

UGREEN Revodok 105 USB-C hub
Consider it if: one fast USB-A device and two slower accessories cover your needs
Skip it if: you need a USB-C data socket or assume all three USB-A ports have the same speed
Hub only; confirm 4K 30 Hz version and included accessories.

Check the full desk during the return period
- Connect the normal charger, display, storage and input devices together.
- Check the actual resolution and refresh rate in system settings.
- Copy nonessential sample files, safely eject the drive, then reopen the copied files.
- Check restart and sleep/wake behaviour with the supported connections.
- Arrange the hub with ventilation and cable slack so its short lead does not suspend it from the laptop socket.
If direct laptop connections already cover the complete setup, keep the money. If they do not, buy the smallest supported arrangement that solves the missing connection rather than a larger dock simply because it offers more ports.
