ASUS ZenScreen MB16ACV vs ARZOPA A1 for a small rental desk
Your dining table becomes a desk during the day and needs to be clear for dinner. A portable second screen can fit that routine, but a USB-C-shaped socket does not tell you whether a laptop can send video. Choose the connection route before the display.
We reviewed manufacturer documentation and Canadian product listings. We have not hands-on tested these products for this guide. Retailer links are ordinary links; we earn no commission from them.

The renter’s lens
Portability & ecosystem fit
- Pack, place & remove
- Measure stand depth and cable exits as well as screen width. Include a sleeve, required video cables and any separate power equipment in the pack-away kit.
- Ecosystem fit
- These extend a supported computer display, not a home-automation network. USB-C shape alone does not prove video support; check the host and exact monitor inputs.
- Offline & shared use
- Check the intended local display connection. ASUS’s USB-A route needs a compatible permitted driver; ARZOPA’s HDMI route also needs its documented power connection.
- Complete ownership cost
- Count missing cables or a stable stand before comparing prices. Verify seller availability and warranty, especially the ASUS listing with buying options only.
- At the next address
- Protect the panel from bending and keep the complete cable kit together. Recheck table depth, viewing position and power at the next desk.
Documentation-based fit assessment, not a hands-on test or compatibility certification.
Map one complete connection
Write down your exact laptop model, operating system and the socket you plan to use. In its manual, look for display output or DisplayPort Alt Mode, not merely USB-C charging or a USB transfer speed. Also check the computer’s supported number of external displays. A splitter cannot remove a computer’s display limit.
For a work laptop, ask IT whether an external screen is supported and whether you may install a display driver. An approved hardware connection is usually a simpler buying decision than hoping restricted software can be installed after delivery. A second screen should not require bypassing your employer’s controls.
The useful differences
| Decision | ASUS MB16ACV | ARZOPA A1 |
|---|---|---|
| Screen class | 15.6-inch, 1920 × 1080, up to 60 Hz | 15.6-inch, 1920 × 1080, 60 Hz |
| Documented display inputs | One USB-C; hybrid USB-A route needs compatible driver | USB-C video and mini HDMI |
| HDMI source | No HDMI input listed for this exact model | Use mini-HDMI video plus USB power |
| USB-A video | Manufacturer documents a driver-based route | Do not assume USB-A power carries video |
| Freestanding setup | Integrated kickstand; no height adjustment | Integrated kickstand; verify revision |
| Speakers | None listed | Current A1 specification lists speakers |
Use the exact ASUS specification rather than a generic ZenScreen FAQ covering HDMI-equipped models. ARZOPA sells several similar names; A1, A1S and A1M are not interchangeable listings.
One cable has two requirements
A direct USB-C connection needs a compatible video-capable host port and a cable that carries video; it also needs adequate power. A charge-only lead can leave a monitor powered but without a picture. Use the exact supplied or manufacturer-specified cable first, then check the host manual before purchasing another adapter.
The current A1 page describes single-cable operation for compatible sources and a separate power connection when using HDMI. Budget for that power route if it is your plan. Do not assume a monitor will recharge your laptop or has its own battery because a product photograph shows only one cable.
Measure the stand, not just the screen
Make a paper rectangle for the display and mark where its stand and cable exits would sit. Add your laptop, mouse space and the objects that must remain on the table. A thin panel can still need significant depth behind it, and a cable pressed against a wall can make the intended angle impractical.
Think about your normal sitting position and whether the screens can be placed comfortably without unstable piles of books. A portable panel may sit lower than you want. If you need a separate stable stand, protective sleeve or longer specified cable, add those costs before comparing prices. Avoid a permanent mount simply to solve a temporary setup.
Choose around your actual work
For documents and a reference window, compare readable text at the scaling you use. Full HD is a pixel count, not a guarantee of comfortable text on every operating system. We have not measured colour accuracy, brightness, glare, gaming response or long-term durability on either unit.
If your work depends on calibrated colour or a high refresh rate, look for evidence and specifications for that job rather than treating either basic screen as a universal solution. If you only occasionally need another window, try your operating system’s window arrangement or an existing compatible display before buying.
The two exact models to check
On 18 October 2026, the linked Amazon.ca MB16ACV page showed “See All Buying Options” without a main offer. We retain it as a model comparison, not a claim that it is available to order. Check the seller, condition, delivery, returns and Canadian warranty before considering an offer; do not substitute a similar ZenScreen model without rechecking its ports.

Consider it if: its direct USB-C or permitted driver-based connection fits your exact laptop and an acceptable offer is available
Skip it if: you need an HDMI input, cannot install the required USB-A driver or cannot find a suitable offer

A return-period acceptance check
- Connect through the route you actually intend to use, without unsupported adapters.
- Check extended desktop, text scaling and your normal documents; restart and resume from sleep.
- Check the stand and cable exits with the desk arranged for real work.
- Pack and unpack the complete kit, including required power, without bending the panel.
Keep model details, cables and purchase records together in your moving plan. If the supported setup cannot fit the table comfortably, returning the screen is more sensible than accumulating adapters around it.
