A closer look for renters

UGREEN Revodok 105 review: keyboard, storage and one rental-desk screen

A keyboard, mouse and external drive can consume a laptop’s ports before you add a monitor. Revodok 105 addresses that familiar small-desk problem with three USB-A connections and HDMI. The useful question is which accessory goes where, because those three USB-A sockets do not all have the same documented data capability.

We reviewed manufacturer documentation and Canadian product listings. We have not hands-on tested these products for this guide. Retailer links are ordinary links; we earn no commission from them.

Portability & ecosystem fit

Pack, place & remove
A modest wired hub can stay with a labelled cable kit. Protect the host lead and leave ventilation rather than hiding it under fabrics.
Ecosystem fit
Match keyboard and mouse to the slower USB-A ports and compatible storage to the faster one. PD input is not USB-C accessory data.
Offline & shared use
Normal wired functions do not require an account, smart-home controller or internet. Work-device restrictions still apply.
Complete ownership cost
Budget the supported charger, HDMI cable and any data cable. Verify the exact five-in-one 4K 30 Hz model and Canadian warranty.
At the next address
Eject storage, disconnect gently and retain the connection map. Recheck power and display requirements when changing the computer or screen.

Sort accessories by their job

Write down the connections you actually use in one work session. A keyboard and mouse have different data needs from a drive copying large folders. A display needs a supported video path, while the charger supplies power. Do this inventory before counting sockets; otherwise a five-port hub can appear to solve more problems than its functions allow.

Check the laptop’s USB-C display support and charging method in its own manual. For an employer-managed device, confirm approved accessories and external-storage rules. A compact hub should simplify a permitted work setup, not become a workaround for restrictions. If you only need two input devices, an existing supported receiver or spare laptop port might eliminate the purchase.

Understand this exact five-port layout

Published features translated into renter decisions; not our measurements
Feature or limitWhat it means at home
One USB-A at 5 GbpsThe sensible starting port for a compatible faster USB-A storage connection.
Two USB-A at 480 MbpsConsider keyboard and mouse here; do not expect all ports to share the faster rating.
HDMI up to 4K at 30 HzCheck your intended resolution and refresh rate explicitly.
USB-C PD inputA charging input, not a spare USB-C data or monitor connection.
100 W input, published up to 95 W pass-throughActual laptop power depends on the complete supported charging path.

UGREEN publishes these connection limits for Revodok 105. Specifications do not predict transfer time or display behaviour on your computer. Model names and regional listings can vary, so check CM478/15495 and the exact port drawing rather than borrowing specifications from a larger Revodok dock.

Storage deserves the right connection and routine

If your SSD uses a suitable USB-A data cable, assign it to the faster documented USB-A port and label that cable. The two slower ports remain useful for appropriate input devices, but should not be treated as equivalent storage connections. All peripherals still share the upstream link; the number of sockets is not a promise of independent maximum throughput.

A USB-C-only peripheral is a different buying requirement. Do not assume the PD input accepts it or add an improvised adapter chain without checking support. For backup work, a compatible direct laptop connection may be simpler. Safely eject storage before clearing the table and avoid changing the charging setup during an important copy. A tidier desk is not worth introducing an avoidable interrupted transfer.

One HDMI monitor still needs a compatibility check

The host must provide the supported video signal through USB-C. HDMI on the hub does not create native output from a data-only host socket. Check the exact laptop’s external-display count and supported modes, particularly if its built-in screen or another monitor is already part of the arrangement. More adapters do not remove a host display limit.

At 4K, the advertised headline is 30 Hz, not 60 Hz. Decide whether that specific limitation matters for your work before ordering. A portable monitor with mini HDMI also needs the appropriate cable and its separate power arrangement. If your monitor accepts only USB-C video, this PD input is not a route to it. Verify a different supported dock or use an appropriate direct connection.

Charge and pack the whole workstation

Compare the laptop’s normal power requirement with the hub’s documented charging arrangement, then check the charger and cable ratings. A 100 W input label does not mean the laptop receives 100 W. If the computer needs its original charger, keeping it separately connected may be simpler than replacing a working charger solely to achieve the one-cable appearance.

Include missing HDMI and data cables, a suitable supply and a place to store the hub without straining its short host lead. No account or subscription is required for its wired functions. The ongoing costs are more likely to be a damaged lead or an unsuitable accessory than a monthly fee. Check Canadian seller returns and warranty before deciding that a low headline price represents the full cost.

A defined fit for a modest desk

The 105 is a plausible shortlist for someone whose actual list is keyboard, mouse, one USB-A storage connection and one HDMI screen. It is a poor shortcut to a more complex workstation with networking, card slots, USB-C peripherals or multiple displays. Our Anker-versus-UGREEN comparison can help if the missing function is a USB-C data port instead.

Skip it if: you need USB-C accessory data, USB-C monitor output or a more capable dock

Use the return window for a real desk rehearsal

  • Connect every normal peripheral together through supported routes.
  • Confirm the display’s actual resolution and refresh rate.
  • Check charging during your ordinary workload without assuming the headline wattage.
  • Safely copy and reopen sample files using the assigned storage connection.
  • Try sleep, wake and a complete pack-away cycle without pulling on ports.

The hub should be easy for you to identify and remove from a shared table. Keep a small connection note with the cables so the same setup can be restored after moving. If direct connections already meet the need, keep them. If this hub does not meet it within documented limits, returning it is more economical than building another adapter system around the wrong port layout.
