A closer look for renters

Anker SOLIX C300 AC review: a portable small-office backup

A small home office may need enough backup power to save work, keep a connection alive and move to another room. The AC-output SOLIX C300 offers a different set of choices from a phone power bank. Its usefulness depends on the complete load and the exact version, because C300 DC is a different product.

We reviewed manufacturer documentation and Canadian product listings. We have not hands-on tested these products for this guide. Retailer links are ordinary links; we earn no commission from them.

Portability & ecosystem fit

Pack, place & remove
A freestanding A1722 can move between suitable modest tasks. Protect it in transport and check battery rules instead of treating it as ordinary luggage.
Ecosystem fit
Verify the exact AC-output version and supported laptop charging route. C300 DC differs; USB-C shape alone does not establish power compatibility.
Offline & shared use
A powered laptop can still lose internet upstream. Prepare saved work and an alternate connection rather than treating a UPS feature as service continuity.
Complete ownership cost
Include supported cables, charging and inspection routines. Check Canadian warranty, current support and total continuous load; solar is optional.
At the next address
Keep the manual and leads together, then reassess the office load and network chain. Do not connect the station to building wiring.

Documentation-based fit assessment, not a hands-on test or compatibility certification.

Specify an outage task the battery can serve

Write the task before the product: save a document, finish a short call or recharge a compatible laptop away from an outlet. List every device needed for it. A network task can depend on a modem, router and fibre terminal as well as the laptop. The battery cannot keep the provider’s equipment or a landlord’s unpowered network alive.

Agree on the fallback if that upstream connection fails. A permitted phone hotspot or alternate location can matter more than another AC socket. For a managed work computer, check IT rules about power accessories and backup equipment. Do not treat a portable station as permission to make changes to shared rental wiring or to bypass an employer’s equipment policy.

The AC version is the important specification

288 Wh published cell energyA planning input, not guaranteed usable energy or hours of work.
300 W rated AC outputCheck the total continuous load, not a surge or boost headline.

High-power USB-C optionsVerify exact port allocation, cable and device support in the Canadian manual.

The Canadian A1722 user guide is the specification source. We have not measured runtime, transfer behaviour, charging speed or noise. Product names alone are insufficient: confirm AC versus DC, Canadian voltage, output labels and package contents before buying or comparing an offer.

A portable office needs a realistic energy plan

Measure the actual modest load where possible. Device adapter ratings are maximum capabilities rather than a dependable account of ordinary consumption. Include the display and network equipment if the task requires them, and distinguish watts from watt-hours. A 300 W output rating does not tell you how many hours the station will operate.

As an invented example, a task averaging 50 W for two hours uses 100 Wh at the connected devices before losses, station overhead and reserve. That is arithmetic, not a C300 runtime result. A laptop’s internal battery, charge level and power policy can change the load. Compare the required task with a supported smaller power bank before deciding that an AC inverter is necessary.

USB-C can simplify the kit when it is supported

Check whether the laptop accepts a supported USB-C Power Delivery arrangement and which cable and port the manual specifies. Do not infer compatibility from a USB-C-shaped socket or the largest number printed on a product page. Shared-output rules can matter when several devices charge together; read the exact configuration before relying on simultaneous maximums.

Keeping a suitable original laptop charger on an AC outlet may be a clearer supported route for some computers. For others, direct supported USB-C can avoid carrying that adapter. Choose the verified route, not the tidiest photograph. Count the required cables in the price and packing plan, and retain enough slack so the portable battery cannot pull a laptop from a small table.

Automatic changeover is not a blanket guarantee

Follow the manual’s documented UPS arrangement and check the actual non-critical equipment at a suitable time. Save work and retain independent backups before any acceptance exercise. A quoted 10 ms transfer feature does not guarantee that a particular computer, modem or external drive will keep running, and it does not replace a proper recovery process.

If the primary job is an always-fixed router shelf, compare a purpose-built UPS and its supported load. If the station is intended for occasional manual charging, its portability may matter more than automatic transfer. This review does not recommend it for medical devices or life-critical loads. Keep the decision tied to ordinary consumer office equipment and a realistic interruption plan.

Account for space, support and the full cost

Place the unit dry and ventilated within the manual’s temperature and clearance requirements. Never backfeed a wall outlet or connect it to the building’s wiring. Include required approved charging leads, suitable supported device cables and a location that does not block a walkway. A solar panel is optional and brings a separate permission and compatibility project, not a required office accessory.

Check the current support and recall information for the exact model, Canadian warranty, seller, returns and the maintenance instructions. There is no reason to invent a guaranteed service lifespan. A battery needs periodic attention even if rarely used; the purchase is less useful when it remains discharged in a closet. Keep its manual and proof of purchase available independently of a cloud app.

Skip it if: a phone bank already solves the need or the load exceeds this model’s supported limits

Practise the office-to-bag routine

  • Check exact Canadian model, delivered cables and electrical labels.
  • Charge and configure the unit using its current manual.
  • Try the intended non-critical laptop and network load within supported limits.
  • Record a personal acceptance result without presenting it as a controlled product test.
  • Review carrier battery rules before shipping or taking it on transport.

Keep the battery freestanding so it can move with you without landlord alterations. Reassess the power plan at the next home because the modem location, provider and shared network may change. If the smallest supported solution meets the task, choose it; additional capacity and ports should earn their space rather than make a backup purchase feel more complete.
