Levoit Core Mini-P vs Core 300-P: size a purifier for your rental room
The smallest purifier is easy to fit beside a bed, but the important measurement is the room it needs to serve. Compare clean-air delivery and ongoing filter costs before choosing between Levoit’s Core Mini-P and the larger, non-smart Core 300-P.
We reviewed manufacturer documentation and Canadian product listings. We have not hands-on tested these products for this guide. Retailer links are ordinary links; we earn no commission from them.

The renter’s lens
Portability & ecosystem fit
- Pack, place & remove
- Measure body size plus required open airflow space. A compact unit that fits a shelf may still be undersized for the room.
- Ecosystem fit
- These exact Mini-P and non-smart 300-P models use manual controls. Do not assume app control or transfer 300S-P features to the 300-P.
- Offline & shared use
- Their ordinary manual-control task does not depend on joining the landlord’s Wi-Fi. They still need the correct electrical supply and properly installed filter.
- Complete ownership cost
- Budget for the correct replacement filters and electricity. Published maximum CADR does not establish capacity at your preferred quiet setting.
- At the next address
- Keep the power equipment and filter model details together. Recalculate for the new room and follow clearances rather than reusing the old location automatically.
Documentation-based fit assessment, not a hands-on test or compatibility certification.
Measure the closed room you want to serve
Measure length and width, note ceiling height and decide whether the door normally stays open. A unit sized for one closed bedroom should not be assumed to serve the entire apartment. Also measure the safe, unobstructed place where it will stand; the smallest advertised footprint is not the full space needed for airflow.
Health Canada advises checking suggested room size and clean air delivery rate, or CADR, on the AHAM label. Its general sizing guideline uses a tobacco-smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of room area in square feet, with an 8-foot ceiling. Higher ceilings need additional consideration. Read Health Canada’s full guidance.
Use the same rating basis for both products
| Comparison | Core Mini-P | Core 300-P |
|---|---|---|
| Published CADR | 34 CFM on the cited US model page | 143 CFM on the cited US model page |
| Published room size at 4.8 ACH | 53 sq ft | 222 sq ft |
| Approximate body dimensions | 16.4 × 16.4 × 26.4 cm | 22 × 22 × 36 cm |
| Controls in this comparison | Manual controls | Non-smart 300-P controls; not the 300S-P |
| Ongoing purchase | Correct Mini-P replacement filter | Correct 300-family replacement filter |
ACH means air changes per hour. Large coverage claims may use only one air change per hour, which is a different comparison from the 4.8-ACH figures above. Verify the label for the exact Canadian unit, not just the shared family name. Manufacturer values are not a promise of performance at your preferred quiet fan setting.
Check a room-size starting point
Enter one room’s dimensions. This browser-only tool applies Health Canada’s general 8-foot-ceiling guideline; it does not measure indoor air or assess a health condition. It does not save or send your dimensions.
Why the cheaper small unit may be the wrong bargain
Use the calculator result to inspect the smoke-CADR label for the exact model. In the 120-square-foot example, the starting point is 80 CFM. The Mini-P’s cited 34-CFM value is below that number; do not choose it for that task solely because it is photographed on a bedside table. The 300-P’s cited 143-CFM value clears that simple starting point, but room conditions and operating speed still matter.
We have not measured filtration, noise or pollutant removal. A maximum-speed capacity figure does not establish the capacity at sleep speed. During the return period, evaluate whether the intended placement and fan setting are practical without mistaking your comfort check for an air-cleaning test.
Compare the cost of keeping it useful
Find the price and availability of the correct replacement filter in Canada before buying the machine. Add an initial device cost, a realistic filter budget and electricity to your comparison. Do not wash or substitute a filter unless the exact instructions allow it, and check packaging-removal instructions before the first use.
A portable particle-filtering device does not fix a moisture source, remove the need for ventilation or replace required smoke/carbon-monoxide alarms. For a building problem, pursue the appropriate maintenance route. Avoid paying for a machine that cannot address the actual problem you have identified.
The two models to inspect
Core Mini-P air purifier
Levoit Core Mini-P
Consider it if: the exact label supports your genuinely small space and the compact body is useful
Skip it if: its capacity is below your room-size requirement or you expect it to serve a whole apartment
Purifier with its own filter family; confirm the Canadian power adapter.

Levoit Core 300-P
Consider it if: the verified capacity and usable placement suit your bedroom, with a sustainable filter budget
Skip it if: you need app control and are assuming this non-smart 300-P is the 300S-P
Non-smart Core 300-P listing; replacement filters are an ongoing cost.

Keep the installation portable
- Follow the exact clearances; keep air openings free of curtains, furniture and clutter.
- Use a safe stable location and the correct Canadian power arrangement.
- Check what filter maintenance is required and keep its model number with your receipts.
- Recalculate for the next room when moving rather than assuming the same unit fits every apartment.
